An instructor needed for the Winter/Spring session of an adult hip hop class. Students age range is 18 and above. The class is a beginner level and geared for fun, exercise, and learning dance. The session begins in January and runs through the first weekend of June with a recital. Teacher must choreograph a dance the students can showcase at the recital.

The Dance Teacher will be responsible for the preparation of lesson plans and the instruction for up to 22 dance students per class period. Plan lessons, choreograph dances, communicate with students and parents and instruct participants using correct technique and terminology. Take classroom attendance. Select age appropriate music for classroom and recitals. Measure for costumes, fill out order forms and assist with recitals and performances. Follow all Park District Safety Standards. I am taking the backwards approach to this business. I have been a marketing/creative director of a global company and would like to take my talents elsewhere. I am going to jump in and apply it to this dance studio, marketing it greater than any other studio in the area. I do have a partner that would manage all financial aspects of the company. We are not asking for any start up money.

Crazy right? I have no children or family vested in dance nor have I been a dancer in the past. This is truly an “investment business” that we think we can make extremely success with the right person to handle the creative, dance program side. It is a great position for someone who wants to continue their talent and skills, to have their own direction and name in our studio with financial backing.

This position clearly reports to the studio owner and will oversee the entire dance program for the studio. The director position is an hourly position but can be considered for a salaried position.

The position requires the ability to teach all levels of creative movement, classical ballet and pointe technique at a professional level A MUST. Choreography is also required for this position. The ability to teach contemporary and modern is also a desirable skill.

A candidate will be in charge of hiring dancers and choreographers, running any rehearsals, scheduling program classes, scouting professional dancers for clinics or one day work-shops. This position would also include making decisions regarding creative and practical elements of the studio.

Prior experience teaching children ages 3-5 a plus, have your own car & enjoy children! Need to be very reliable, possess great communication skills, be organized & fun.

Morning availability required. Currently seeking someone with 3 mornings available between the hours of 9-11:30am. Opportunity to add more mornings. $8/hr training pay, $17/hr starting pay with opportunity to increase hourly rate within 3 months. Immediate availability to begin training a plus.
