The Downers Grove Park District offers dance classes for all ages, from parent & tot to elementary ages to adults. I am taking the backwards approach to this business. I have been a marketing/creative director of a global company and would like to take my talents elsewhere. A candidate will be in charge of hiring dancers and choreographers, running any rehearsals, scheduling program classes, scouting professional dancers for clinics or one day work-shops. This position would also include making decisions regarding creative and practical elements of the studio.

The Dance Teacher will be responsible for the preparation of lesson plans and the instruction for up to 22 dance students per class period. Plan lessons, choreograph dances, communicate with students and parents and instruct participants using correct technique and terminology. Take classroom attendance. Summary:
To instruct and lead students based upon program guidelines.

Responsibilities:
The Dance Instructor develops class curriculum and provides instruction to participants for a variety of youth and/or dance formats including, but not limited to ballet, ballroom, tap, and hip hop. The Dance Instructor is also responsible for working with the Recreation Supervisor in coordinating annual Dance Recital including choreography, rehearsal, and performance management.

Lead the instruction of dance participants, according to the approved curriculum, in a fun environment while teaching specific dance techniques and preparing participants for the annual dance show
Maintain a positive, safe and nurturing environment
Prepare Specific Dance Class objectives, and implement a detailed class curriculum, consistent with the Park District’s Dance Program goals and curriculum.
Explain and demonstrate techniques and methods of regulating movements of body to musical rhythmic accompaniment
Drill pupils in execution of dance steps
Provide age appropriate instruction for all levels of programs, observe students to determine physical and artistic qualifications and limitations, and plan programs to meet students’ needs and aspirations
Coordinate the safe and timely arrival and departure of program participants, as well as the transfers of participants between combo/different programs
uphold policies and procedures in relation to allergies, parent communication, behavior management and safety
Assist participants at lunch and snack time, bathroom breaks and possibly diaper changing
Provide positive and professional communication with customers
Ensure the safety of all participants during classes and performances, and report any problems, unsafe conditions, behavior issues and accidents to the Recreation Supervisor
Maintain Class log and attendance
Keep supplies area neat and organized
Other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:

The Irina Makkai Classical Ballet and Dance School in Highland Park, Illinois is looking for a Pre-Dance Ballet Teacher for the 2019-2020 Season. Classes are Thursday afternoons from 4:00-5:00 and 5:00-6:00 pm for dancers ages 5-7. Classical Ballet Training is required.

An instructor needed for the Winter/Spring session of an adult hip hop class. Students age range is 18 and above. The class is a beginner level and geared for fun, exercise, and learning dance.
